On Saturday 22nd March we held a community action morning. Several of our Brougham Street families helped Beccy, Caroline and Jonelle to clear the bottom area of the allotment. We are sure that you will agree that it already looks a lot better
Our Allotment
In September 2024 we couldn't actually see the plot as it was thick with brambles and weeds! Since then we have cleared the plot and had a beautiful new fence installed to secure the site.
In an exciting development, we are proud to announce that we have been awarded an allotment plot as part of the Middletown Allotment site. This will enable us to expand our outdoor learning programme and provide our children with hands-on gardening opportunities and environmental education.
The newly secured allotment will serve as a space for our children to explore nature, engage in gardening projects and develop a deeper understanding of where food comes from.
This initiative is part of our commitment to promoting sustainability, healthy living, and environmental stewardship. We are thrilled to have been given this opportunity to enhance our already 'exceptional curriculum offer.' Gardening and nature-based activities are a wonderful way to teach children about responsibility, teamwork and the environment. This allotment will allow our children to witness the growth of plants and learn about the importance of looking after the world around them.
The allotment will also foster the development of important life skills, such as patience, problem solving and creativity. Our children will have the opportunity to grow vegetables, flowers and herbs, all whilst building their confidence and connection with the natural world.
This initiative has been made possible due to the support of our Governors and is part of a broader effort to provide more outdoor educational opportunities for our children.
